Our Doctors

Dr. Claudia Moricz and Dr. Karen Varone are both trained specialists in orthodontics and are certified by the American Board of Orthodontics. Both doctors believe in quality, patient centered care. At Orthodontists of Lakewood Ranch and Sarasota our patients receive the distinct advantage of seeing both doctors on a regular basis. This allows two specialists to evaluate and treat your concerns while allowing greater flexibility in scheduling.
Dr. Moricz graduated from the University of Detroit Mercy Dental School in 1998. She completed her orthodontic residency at the University of Michigan in 2001. Dr. Moricz did extensive research on two-phase and early orthodontic treatment. She left her partnership in Michigan in 2003 to move to Florida. She now lives in Lakewood Ranch with her two boys.
Dr. Varone graduated dental school in 2000 from the University of Maryland at Baltimore. Her orthodontic residency was completed at The Ohio State University, graduating in 2003. Dr. Varone's research concentrated on patient satisfaction with orthodontic treatment. She practiced in the Washington DC area before moving to Florida. She now resides in Sarasota with her husband and two boys.

Donna
Office Coordinator

Donna moved to Florida in 2003. She grew up and raised her family in Jamestown, NY. She joined the doctors in the Lakewood Ranch office when they opened in 2005 as the office coordinator. She loves spending time with her family and friends and going to the beach in her spare time. She resides in Lakewood Ranch with her husband. They have 3 children and two grandchildren.

Susie
Patient Coordinator

Susan grew up in Michigan and moved to Florida with her family in 97. After graduating Sarasota High School, Susan continued to Manatee Community College where she received her degree in nursing. Wanting to work more closely with patients and her love for working with children lead her to our office. She now resides in Sarasota with her husband, dog Oliver, and new baby.

Allie
Lead Assistant (Lakewood Ranch Office)

Allie was born in New York and lived there until her family moved to Florida in 1995. She has been working in the Orthodontic field since July 2004. She received her Orthodontic Assisting certification in January 2005. Allie was recently married at the Powel Crosley Estate in Sarasota on May 15, 2010. She and her husband currently live in St Petersburg where she makes the one hour to Lakewood Ranch every day. In her spare time she enjoys baking, cake decorating, going to the beach, and spending time with her family and friends.

Emili
Lead Assistant (Sarasota office)

Emili was born and raised in Charleston , SC. She moved to Florida in July 2008 and now resides in Lakewood Ranch with her two children. She enjoys going to the beach and spending time with her family. She has worked in the orthodontic field for 8 years in Louisville , KY and after coming to our office in 2008 she has since received her certificate in orthodontic assisting.

Brittany
Assistant

Brittany was born and raised in Bradenton, Florida. She attended Lakewood Ranch High school and continued on to Manatee Community College with a softball scholarship. She graduated from Manatee County Technical Institute in January 2009 with her Dental Assisting Certification and in February 2010 she received her Orthodontic Certification. Brittany enjoyed fishing and other outdoor sports and currently lives in Bradenton with her two dogs.

Lauren
Assistant

Lauren was born and raised in Florida. She attended Lakewood Ranch High School and continued on to the State college of Florida. Lauren graduated from Manatee Technical Institute in Jan 2010 with her dental assisting certification. Lauren enjoys the beach and spending time with her dog Jake.
